Outposts symbolize the classic Ontario fishing experience. Mostly accessed by air, out posts afford our guests with a very remote wilderness fishing holiday. Usually found on lakes with no access, vacationing at an outpost camp means the only people you’ll see during your vacation are those in your own fishing party. Its like owning your own lake for a week! As you step aboard a bush plane like the famous Otter, Beaver, Beech or Cessna and move along the lake preparing for take off, anticipation of the fishing adventure ahead will grow noticeably. The flight itself is often one of the most unforgettable parts of the trip, second only to the magnificent fishing you’re about to have. Most outpost cabins have hot and cold running water, wood-fired stoves or propane heaters for heat, and fridges and stoves that allow you to do your own cooking. you are required to bring in your own sleeping bag, personal gear and of course your fishing equipment. You also bring in all your own food, liquid refreshments and bait. Boats, motors and all your gas are part of the package price and your outfitter will generally pay you at least one “flight check” visit during your stay – to ensure things are going well and that you have all the supplies you need. All operators have a per person baggage weight limit (usually 100 pounds) on the flight in so keep this in mind when doing your packing.
