Muskie Fishing Trips in Ontario
Muskie is popular in Ontario to the point where Kenora,
Ontario, located in the western part of the province, has a large fish
statue called Huskie the Muskie, which is recognizable across the
province. Ontario is generally considered the best place to catch Muskie
in the world, and the second-largest Muskie ever caught was
caught in Ontario.
The
ideal habitat for Muskie is in Northwest Ontario where you can get
Muskie that run an average of ten to 15 pounds, with some trophy fish
coming in at 50 pounds. The best places in the lakes to catch the Muskie
are in saddles, weed flats, sunken islands and mid-lake shoals. You will
generally want to use deep trolling and casting methods, but everything
from the time of day, water temperature and even the moon phase can
affect where the Muskie is in the lake. Your baits should
come in a variety of colours and sizes, and you can try extra-large
spinner baits, bucktail bait and top-water plugs if you want to catch a
good-sized Muskie.
